Hi, I’m Jemma!
I am a newly graduated Primary Teacher who is so excited to begin my teaching career! I would describe myself as bubbly, energetic, caring and organised, and I love bringing these qualities into the classroom. Building positive relationships with students is really important to me, and I am passionate about creating a classroom where every child feels safe, supported and like they truly belong. Most of all, I want my students to enjoy coming to school, feel confident to be themselves and be excited about learning.
My teaching philosophy
My biggest priority as a teacher is creating a classroom where students feel safe, happy and like they belong. I believe positive relationships are at the heart of this. I want to take the time to really get to know my students, not just as learners, but as individuals. I want to know what they enjoy, what makes them laugh, what they are proud of and when they might need a little extra support.
I believe students are much more willing to have a go, make mistakes and challenge themselves when they know their teacher genuinely cares about them. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable being themselves and know that I am always in their corner. Building these relationships is one of the parts of teaching that I am most excited about as I begin my career.
I also really value routine, consistency and clear expectations. I believe students feel more settled and confident when they know what to expect and understand what is expected of them. I like having clear classroom routines and boundaries that help students develop independence and create a calm environment where everyone has the opportunity to learn.
At the same time, I want my classroom to be fun! I am naturally bubbly and energetic, and I want to bring that energy into my teaching. I believe there can be laughter, creativity and excitement in a classroom while still having structure and high expectations. I want students to enjoy coming to school and to be excited about what we are learning together.
Ultimately, I want to be the kind of teacher who students know genuinely cares about them. I hope to create a classroom built around positive relationships, belonging, consistency and fun, where students feel supported to be themselves, give things a go and be proud of what they achieve.

My Classroom Style
Safe, Positive & Ready to Learn
I love a classroom filled with energy, laughter and engaging learning, but I also strongly value routine and consistency. I believe clear expectations and predictable routines help students feel secure, confident and ready to learn.
For me, a great classroom has the perfect balance of fun, relationships and structure.

Ready to Get Started!
Beginning my teaching career is something I have worked incredibly hard for and I cannot wait to get started. I am excited to bring fresh ideas, creativity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn into my first school community.
Most of all, I am excited for the relationships I will build, the students I will meet and the opportunity to make a positive difference.
"Jemma has demonstrated exceptional growth and professional capability throughout her practicum and is increasingly operating beyond what would ordinarily be expected of a pre-graduate pre-service teacher."
